There appears to be nothing they won’t meddle with but fortunately for you we’re all winners here. The recent trendy upsurge in the gin market has brought the humble spirit from its historically white bread roots to its current assault on the floral kingdom.

The best part is the local offerings – particularly the London Dry Gin from the Salt River distillery, Hope on Hopkins. It’s a clean, classic london-dry style gin with a ‘secret’ collection of botanicals that makes it the perfect go to base for a simple GnT or Martini. No need to go overboard with trimmings – jdd a little citrus and/or rosemary to get the most out of it.
Tip: When tasting a gin neat try it at around 12-15˚C and add a splash of cold water – this releases the botanicals.
