Advocates: Call him Ali

Written by | Found in: Advocates | Posted on: 18 Feb 2014 - 1:05 pm

This man. Call him Ali, that’s what he said you should say. “Hi Ali,” something like that. You’ll be greeted with the warmest smile and the biggest can-do attitude this side of Pakistan. That’s where he is from. Ali is a descendent of a lineage of tailors that reaches back to the motherland. But you find won’t him there. You’ll find him on Jarvis Street, opposite the Cape Quarter. Take him a picture of any suit your heart desires, he’ll tailor it, in a week, tops. Not up for new duds? Take in any alteration or repair you wish, Ali’s bunker is a place of miracles.

Advocates: Brixton Fiddler Cap

The thing with hats is that you have to wear ’em, good and proper. Never let the hat wear you. That way, you can wear any darn hat you please. My new fisherman cap is in the mail. It’s called the Brixton Fiddler. Yep, Fiddler. Don’t ask. Just order online. It tops out at $34 before shipping. To see some of the other Brixton hats in the real world, head to Revolution on Long Street or in the Woodstock exchange.
