THE JUICE STAN SMITH

The yearlong adidas Consortium tour is headed East with a Stan Smith inspired by Edison Chen’s JUICE franchise. The JUICE Stan Smith is a 2016 twist on the quintessential tennis-turned-lifestyle sneaker. Understated but new, the contrasting natural and man-made tones were inspired by the immaculate Juice retail spaces – concrete floors, natural woods, metals, and occasional flashes of natural greens from plant life; tranquil havens amid concrete metropolises.

Swopping premium leather for nappy suede, the uppers still carry the trademarks of the OG design with signature decals such as the contrast green heel tab, metal eyelets and perforated three stripes sitting next to the dual branded Consortium tongue tab.

The adidas Consortium X Juice Stan Smith are available for R2499.00 at Shelflife in Cape Town.

HOOD TO GO!

The Hoodie isn’t just a top – it’s a way of life. New realities have brought about the urbanization and sophistication of this multi-faceted garment, advancing it into cultured, street-savvy style items. No longer the domain of the lazy and sloppy, the Hoodie is the perfect piece of apparel for winter layering – not too bulky to wear under a jacket yet warm enough to wear over a t-shirt on autumn days.

If you’re looking to upgrade your off-duty style, you can’t go wrong with a couple of hoodies in your winter wardrobe arsenal.

We love this one by Salsa featured in our Winter 16 Style eDition. See more here.

THE PEA COAT

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: whether it’s the clean lines, the simple military styling or the rugged undertones, no man looks bad in a pea coat.

It can be worn with pretty much everything in your wardrobe—from shirts and ties to jeans to sweatpants. And you can wear it pretty much anywhere as well – the office, weekend jaunts – it’s a winter jacket all rounder.

Traditionally made from thick melton wool, it’s always double-breasted (with either six or eight buttons) and cut to mid-thigh – a perfectly practical and wearable length.

We love this one by Tom Tailor featured in our Winter 16 Style eDition. See more here.

THE ICONIC HARRINGTON JACKET

A good jacket is an instant outfit game-changer. While their winter coat counterparts have the primary job of keeping us warm; putting on a jacket can instantly have you channeling 60s mod, 90s Britpop or rugged Bear Grylls adventurer.

A jacket also guards against the autumn chill, perfect for this inbetween-nobody-knows-what-the-hell-to-wear weather. Which is why the Ben Sherman iconic Harrington jacket (made famous by Elvis, Steve McQueen and Frank Sinatra), has the style stamina to go the distance. It’s a versatile piece offered in a bunch of cool colors and will never go out of fashion.

BOOT UP

Here’s the thing about boots: they need to be tough—you can’t baby them because they actually look better with a few battle scars. Which is why you want to invest in a well-made pair that can take the crap getting kicked out of them. And today’s best styles toe the line between bulky work boots and dressier versions. Smart yet rugged – they pair nicely with tailored pants and, of course, were made for beat-up denim and chinos.

The Hi-Tec Bradford Hi is modern yet rugged and features a full-grain leather upper, moulded EVA sock liner, snug foam backed woven lining and a broad-lasted construction that includes a steel shank. A durable moulded rubber outsole, rounds it all up!

So get yourself a pair, wear the hell out of them and don’t feel the need to take them off anytime soon. We certainly won’t be.

BLAZE OF GLORY

PUMA collaborates anew with print and fashion house SWASH London – renowned for its hand-drawn and painted digital prints. SWASH duo Sarah Swash and Toshio Yamanaka have injected bold and whimsical prints into some of PUMA’s most iconic styles for this basketball inspired collection, which is based on “things lost and found” including skeletons, antique jewellery and other hidden treasures.

The Blaze of Glory, originally known for its athletic construction, demonstrates a playful and artistic theme in all over SWASH Ossuary design paired with a mellow, soft leather strike. The collection is available at PUMA SELECT stores in Cape Town, Bree Street and Johannesburg, Braamfontein.
